Red Apple Lipstick's Mineral Lipstick in Lovebird & Oh My Guava

Grace Davidson Monday, July 22, 2013 24 Comments

Red Apple Lipstick | Lovebird  & Oh My Guava - $23.50 ea.*
*PR samples. Kindly sent to me for consideration.

I love lipsticks. I love how it can change my mood depends on colors if it make sense.  When I've got contacted by Red Apple Lipstick, I was so thrilled. All of their products are non-toxic makeup which are soy, allergen, cruelty, gluten and paraben free. Red Apple Lipstick kindly sent me two lipsticks to try. As you know if you are my all time reader, when it comes to picking lipstick colors for myself, I normally go with pink or pinkish nude undertones. So this time again, I chose one pink lipstick and pink-nude one to be safe. Well, adding of to be safe, did you notice their name? Lovebird and Oh My Guava.. How cute? I mean, the names attracted me as well as their colors.

The packaging was pretty sleek, simple yet strong casing. It has little bumpy grips on the bottom of its container which will not allow your finger to be slide and reduce the chance of accident for me to drop it on the floor and ruin the whole lipstick. Also, it has name tag on the bottom of its case for easy stock in the lipstick organizer or drawers.

These lipsticks can be compare to the MAC's cream sheen finished products. It looks like it has some kind of shiny particles in the pictures showing above however does not have it- picture shows/explains how well it's going to be moisturize your lips. It's quite glossy enough that I don't have to use a lip-gloss on top of this lipsticks. In addition, the guide paper that came with this products recommended me to prepare my lips before using the lipsticks but it still looks great on my very dry lips without using a lip scrub. It feels very comfortable on my lips if you know what I mean.

One thing I notice was that it doesn't have those fakey kind of makeup scent/smell. In my opinion, it would be better if it had some kinds of little fruity or flowery smell to it but I am pretty amazed with these lipsticks quality and packaging. I know they are little pricey but as they claimed, it's healthy makeup! I saw on Red Apple Lipstick's  website that they are also selling other stuff such as lipliners, lipglosses, lip balm and eye shadows.

I must have to confess that I have my love for beauty products however actually didn't really care much about what's inside of products that i've been using. It was a great opportunity for me to try non-toxic makeup by myself and see the difference and open my eyes more to the healthy products. So if you are the person who always concern about makeup ingredients and try to look for better healthy makeup products, you might want to check Red Apple Lipstick.

ELF Lip Stain and Gloss

Grace Davidson Wednesday, June 26, 2013 15 Comments

 e.l.f Lip Stain : Mysterious - $3.00

I have purchased this Lip Stain a long ago with bunch other stuff when e.l.f had a huge sale. It seems like they are having sales quite often and it's just crazy. Since it's so low-priced, i thought it will be good to try most of their product and find the hidden gem.

Generally, I do like e.l.f products but recently I found some that are not really worth buying it even its affordable price. So, I was hoping something out of this product and now I am in love with it.

I do enjoy both matte and glossy lipsticks so when I saw this one, I had to try it. I have similar shade lipstick from MAC-Tea Ceremony, which I really like, however, I was looking for some alternative lip products so I can carry it around with me when i go to place like beach, park etc.. I don't like to carry around lipstick(s) during Summer, not just because they melt in my bag and un-usuable, it makes me so sad! Anyway, for that reason, this lip stain was perfect choice for me.  It's cheap, similar shade to one I have and doesn't have to worry about melting in the weather.  Things I like about this product is that it doesn't dry out my lips even though it is 'lip stain.' Also, this one is creamier in texture compare to the Benefit's Benetint lip & cheek stain.

Only thing i didn't enjoy was the scent.  It smelled little funky but how can i complain when it's only $3?

Benefit's Benetint

Grace Davidson Sunday, June 9, 2013 25 Comments

When I was in high shcool in Korea, all the girls were not allowed to wear any makeup but who listens to that? Everyone was wearing a light weight BB cream (Misha was so popular back then..), along with barely noticeable lip tint. No eyeliner, no mascara just to give a little bit of aliveness on the face. Why am i talking about this? Well, I'm trying to tell you lovelies that this Benefit's benetint was one of my holygrail makeup items since then!

I've been using this fabulous lips/cheeks tint for several years and still in love with it. Honestly I didn't use it often as i did before after bleached my hair to lighter color just because I was in the zone of blonzers (blush+bronzer in one.) However, after colored my hair back to dark, I am opt for this benetint again. I look so dead when i'm bare face. So when I don't want to wear full makeup or too lazy, I just pick this up, and put several dots on my cheeks, lips and blend with my finger.

I really like its soft rosy flowery smell. I felt like this tint stay less longer on my lips for somehow but I really don't mind re-applying it. I feel like every lip products are same. You have to re-apply anyways after when you go out and eat, drink and stuff or is it just me?

Anyway, really I would recommend this for any who like to wear something everyday that's not too heavy/bold and for natural makeup look.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate 14 & 101

Grace Davidson Wednesday, June 5, 2013 38 Comments

Swatch : 101 on the top , 14 on the bottom.
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate shade 14 & 101

I love pink and natural/beige pink lipsticks so so much. Since I colored my hair black, I've been wanted some lip colors that are more natural and muted soft. I had my eyes on MAC snob, please me and modesty but then I wasn't sure if those are exact colors I was looking for. I haven't really seen those in person but just on the web. The weather was so hot to step out of the house, grab the over-heated handle, sitting in the crazy traffic to go check them at the MAC store - also I felt lazy today; hence I went to the near by drug store where I can walk with my brother.

I have just one Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate lippy ( shade 12 ) at home that is more like rosey red. The color is definitely pretty and really like the formula. But the shade 12 was just a bit strong for me to wear it regularly on everyday look. However, since I really like Rimmel's lipstick formula and I've seen some pretty nude and muted colors from Rimmel on another blogs, I went it for more.

To be honest, I only did swatch of these lipsticks and haven't wear these yet on my lips. So, I can't tell you about it's staying power or anything but from the hand swatch I did, these were quite creamy when i applied on back of my hand. Although shade 101 dries faster than shade 14 and remained looking like matte lip stain. Some of you might not like the fact that shade 101 leaves no shine after an hour but I really like the color so really don't mind. ( shade 14 is a bit more creamy and lasted longer than shade 101)

Milani : 14 Rose Hip

Grace Davidson Wednesday, May 1, 2013 18 Comments

Milani | 14 Rose Hip (Cream)

Today I'm going to write a review about the Milani's Color Statement Lipstick - shade 14 'Rose Hip'. I picked this up along with shade 01 Sweet Nectar. Actually this is the color that my boyfriend picked for me when I couldn't decided in between Milanis' several pink shades.  I would say I have quite a few pink shades already but not as many as other people who has a big collection of lipsticks. I really wanted to get all the pink shades from Milani, however, I knew there's no way I am going to love and use them all equally and probably some of them will end up in the corner of the drawer and never see the light again.

The packaging is kind of effective when it comes to stacking or arranging by colors since it already shows the actual colors on the bottom of the lipstick. In my opinion, even this lipstick is low priced, it doesn't look so low-grade compare to other affordable lipsticks. I quite like its plain-basic looking.

The color of this lipstick is very much - hot pink. It is very strong, bold and vibrant. It's not too shimmery nor matte. Just perfect cream lipstick. I don't know if i would wear this on regular basis since it's really bright hot pink. I would recommend it to a party look. If I am going to a fancy restaurant, I probably go with lighter tone downed pinks or brown-ish pink.

I was quite surprised by this shade's staying power. Previously, I reviewed the shade 01 Sweet Nectar and mentioned that Sweet Nectar doesn't stay long enough and smudged easily. Well, I don't know why but this color, which is Rose Hip, seems like having a better staying power and doesn't smudged much than the previous color I reviewed. Rose Hip stayed long enough to be against on Mac's Viva Glam Nicki. Of course Mac lipstick was little bit better but with compared to its low-price, it's pretty good isn't it? I am very satisfied with it so far.

Milani : 01 Sweet Nectar

left: blended/smudged with finger.  right: two coats of swatch.

Milani | 01 Sweet Nectar (Cream)
First of all, I want to thank Amelia(The Non Brit) for a little photography tip! It made my pictures crispy clear. Please go check Amelia's amazing photos & reviews on her blog :)

I am a huge drugstore lover and love affordable products that have great quality. Well, who doesn't? The other day I went to the mart to get some berries- technically my boyfriend wanted it. While my boyfriend was picking some fruits, I wondered around the beauty section (just like always.) I picked several products. This Milani's Sweet Nectar Lipstick is one of them.
Milani's 'Sweet Nectar' is a  bright orange-red(more orange-ish), with subtle yellow undertones. It is super creamy, very opaque color looks might be better on darker or more olive skin tones, paired with winged liner and heavy black mascara. If you are looking for something wearable orange color lipstick, this might be perfect for you. It also has like bubble gum kind of smell which I really like it.

Like : Pigmentation, It's very creamy but still doesn't go into every single lip cracks. I also do like the smell of it and its affordable price.

Dislike: Little too easy to get smudged. It doesn't seem like a 'long lasting' product.

Product Description : Make a statement without saying a word!  True Instant Color. One stroke, full coverage application. This next generation lipstick gives the ultimate in color, texture and finish.  The lightweight creamy formula contains Vitamins A, C, & E to moisturize and nourish lips. Paraben-free.

e.l.f | Lip Exfoliator Clear

Grace Davidson Wednesday, April 17, 2013 24 Comments

As I mentioned on twitter the other day, E.L.F had 40% sale so I purchased bunch of their products online and finally got it today! I always have dry and flaky lips. When I use lip balm, seems like it only make my lips calm & smoother for several hours and goes back to dry and flaky.  So when I saw this item on their website, I was thinking I should try it since their products are worth more than its cost and I had such good impressions with e.l.f's nail polishes that I bought.

Sonia Kashuk : Velvety Matte Lip Crayon

Grace Davidson Tuesday, April 16, 2013 23 Comments

Sonia Kashuk Velvety Matte Lip Crayon : Rosey Nude 10 - $7.59
Available at Target

Finally got a red lip color! Yay for me. I was always scared of trying red lips. However, yesterday I went to get Leia's food at Target and saw Sonia Kashuk section. The red lip crayon was talking to me  like -'take me! take me!' - that's why I brought it home with me. I never tried lip crayons so I can't compare to other products but I can tell it's really smooth. I was little worried because it's matte, and my lips are dry. Surprisingly, It glides on my dry lips and the pigmentation is great. What I most like about this lip crayon is that it's not tooooo red-in your face- color. Very pretty rosey color and I thought it's perfect for me since I don't like strong lipsticks/or crayons. Talking about package, It does look like the NARS lip crayons but more affordable version.

Grace Davidson Wednesday, April 10, 2013 22 Comments
From left to right : Avon-Be blushed cheek color(Tropical peach B102), Mac-Lipstick Satin(Viva Glam Nicki), Maybelline-Baby Lips(25.Pink Punch), Victoria's Secret-Perpect Lipstick(Wish)

Pink and Peach are one of my favorite colors. When it comes to pick colors for my lips and cheek, I don't know why but always put my hands on pink or peach. I don't have a lot of red lipsticks nor nude beige blush. So, I was thinking that If i do posts by colors, then I clearly know which colors I need to get next time! (or I don't need.) So today, I want to share these lovely peach-pink colors that I own.

Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel. No heavy waxes or oils. Soft, sexy gel-color.

The other day, I went to the Wal-mart and was looking for nail polishes. I couldn't find any that I want, so like always, I started to wondering around looking for stuffs. I love my Maybelline's Babylips lipbalms, I wanted to get more and I found this beauty. It is balm-type lip color I guess. However, it was so hard to find the one that actually NEW. It seems like everyone have been touching or trying it on their lips. Most of them were squeezed into the cap or used. Anyways, I finally found some that were NEW new and brought it home with me! (It is cheaper at the Walmart than the maybelline's website.)
