I use a Canon Rebel T3i with basic lens that it comes with. I got an extra lens but I haven't used it so later I might going to do a post about how different lenses effect your photo. Anyways, I used to use my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) to take pictures.
I really didn't have any problem to take pictures with my phone. I thought it has a really great pixels and nice quality. Do I need an expensive camera for my blog? Well, not really. If you know how to take picture interesting and with good composition, you don't really need an expensive camera to keep your blog alive. However, after I purchased DSLR I see the difference between phone vs. camera. When I take pictures with my DSLR, I get more clear image with original color. I have no problem with quality of picture when I zoom-in the object. As you can see from above pictures, you can tell that picture taken with phone already starting to blur even without zoom-in process. So if you want more control over your photo and clear shots, you definitely want DSLR.
I'm not a big fan of using flash neither on camera and phone. But sometimes you have to use it! Above pictures show you the difference. Another thing I notice was sometimes when you use flash in sunny day, it gives you a brighter shot.
I prefer using a natural light as much as possible. Above pictures are not the best examples of using lights becuase there are lots of light sources (i.e, Studio light) that you can use for your photography. I am planning to get a studio light so when I get the light, I can probably give you a better example! Anyways, if you prefer a soft-warm feeling, you might want to use any warm light from your house. I used Ikea desk light stand.
Another little thing that many people don't know about is how to use the light. To get a better picture, it is good to place your object away/ opposite from the sun or light. If you take a picture of object or person that is towards the sun/light, the objects is going to be in shadow. You definitely don't want that to happen.
I always tried to take a picture without cluttered. Why? I don't know, it just looks nicer in my opinion. It is just personal preference. For example, if you are going to do a post about series of makeup you purchased, you might want to take cluttered picture. But, normally picture looks much better without cluttered in the back.
I don't edit pictures all the time but sometimes when I feel like editing, I use Photoshop CS6. If you have a photoshop, great. If you don't, don't be sad because there's lots of website that you can go edit your pictures for free. I used to go to www.pixlr.com to edit pictures when I am on someone else's laptop.
Anyways, I hope this post helped you or gave you some idea on how to take pictures for your blog! if you have any question, leave a comment below.

Exactly :) I mean I'm not a professional photographer but I took manual photography class a year ago and always heard ' light, light, light.' So I know for sure that light is important element. Thank you for commenting again Janika. xx
